I wanna buy a soccer game, which one do you recommend based on personal experiences.

I've never played a soccer game before but I'm willing to give it a shot preferably in PC platform. I'm into the game itself and also into managing a team to the world cup and such. And if the game has a create-a-player thingy it would be cool, and also unlocking legends like Pele and such.

What do you recommend?

I'm thinking in making my purchase within the next 5 business days.

Asus A8N-SLI Premium
Amd Opteron 165
Corsair XMS 1GB DDR
XFX 6800XT 256GB DDR3
WD SATA 250GB

Well the only two soccer games that I know about are the FIFA and Pro Evolution soccer series. Now if you want realistic gameplay then the answer for you is Pro Evolution, but the thing with PES is they don't have many licensed players. Now in my opinion the best FIFA game is this years world cup edition you have a lot of licensed players and you can take a lot of teams to the world cup.PES has this patch where you add the world cup to PES 5.

I am a FIFA fan,but many say PES is more realistic. But PES isn't that fun for me.

Pro Evo is alot more realistic, management-wise FIFA is better.

Your right there Jae,both games have some great stuff, but I still prefer FIFA because of the licensed players. In my opinion if they put PES and FIFA together then that would be the best soccer game ever.

From what I've read FIFA has more licensed players and so more real names in teams and players than PES. That's always a good thing. Anybody knows where can I download the third party patch which replaces all their teams and players matching their real life counterparts?

Thanks.

I'd wait another month or two until the new FIFA & PES comes out....that's what I'll do....I'm still not sure which game to get myself as I want a managerial game that I can play as well....

in my opinion, the pro-evo / winning eleven series has the best physics-engine ever to be implemented in a sports game. if you have broadband internet you can use third party patches to have every team that is in the game with their correct names, kits, rosters, etc. Pro-evo / we is a game where i have fun playing randomly selected exhibition matches and don't care about any extended game mode.

on the other hand fifa's got a whole lot more of licensed teams and leagues, and its "franchise mode" which is called carreer mode is a much deeper, BUT (and for me it's a huge BUT) it's gameplay and physics are a lot worse. fifa's career mode is very fun, but the game itself simulation-wise is light years away compared to konami's series.

There's just no way around PES. Fifa may have the licenses, but the main part of the game is still playing the game, right? Pro Evo plays like real soccer while Fifa is still too arcadish(although it's gotten a lot better). And you can download patches for almost the same level of realism if you get PES. But as The X pointed out, wait until the next implementations of both games come in and look for reviews on the net.
