T-profile belts for accurate transport applications

T-profiles are excellent for transporting various light goods and foodstuffs, with several T-profile belts usually running side by side. The integrated V-guide on the running side prevents the profiles from running sideways and thus guarantees precise straight running.

BEHAbelt offers a wide range of T-Profiles. The products are available in several shore hardness grades and different surfaces (smooth, grooved, embossed or rough structured) to guarantee optimal transport properties as well as a long service life. Besides additional properties such as hydrolysis or microbe resistance, almost all of them are certified for direct contact with food (FDA/EC/USDA).

What material are the T-Profiles made of?

BEHAbelt uses high-quality PU (polyurethane) and TPE (polyester) materials for the production of round belts, which guarantee an optimal performance and long service life in conveyor technology applications.

In which geometries are the BEHAbelt T-profile belts available?

Due to the versatile transport goods, the demand for different T-profiles is enormous. Due to our proximity to the market, we have developed a high level of competence in the consultation and execution of the suitable T-profile for the process sections over decades.
BEHAbelt currently offers 20 T-profile types in its standard programme. The dimensions range from e.g. 9x4mm to 10×4,5mm for small profiles and from 15×5 to 25x5mm for larger profiles.

PU safe (metal and X-ray detectable round belts): These T-Profiles make an important contribution to food safety, because detached plastic particles can be detected by metal detectors and X-ray units.

Hydrolysis resistance (HY): The use of hydrolysis-resistant raw materials guarantees a longer service life, especially in humid environments, at higher temperatures and regular cleaning.

UV-C resistance: Special additives increase the resistance of the round belts to UV-C waves, which can lead to premature ageing of conventional plastics. This extends the service life of the belts, especially when UV-C lamps are used for surface decontamination.

Antistatic dissipative: By adding special additives, electrostatic charge is automatically dissipated via the sliding base or reversing drum, which ensures better transfer of products in the paper industry, for example, and prevents damage to electronic components in the conveyor section.

Low-temperature flexibility: For applications in the deep-freeze and low-temperature range, we offer material combinations that retain their flexibility and product characteristics at temperatures down to -30°C.

PU Plus (reduced elongation): The unique BEHAbelt materials PU75A and PU85A „PLUS“ optimize the elongation performance of round belts, i.e. the dimensional stability, in critical applications.

What is the difference between T-profiles and other belts?

In contrast to the other profiles, T-profiles have a centrally arranged guide groove.
A related product group are V-belts, which are manufactured in a wide variety of forms: e.g. Twin V-belts, double V-belts or Ridge-top V-belts (tile industry).
In addition to this group, there are also round belts, hollow round belts and twisted round belts (hook belts).

Can T-profiles also be reinforced?

Yes, technically this production method is possible. A reinforcement is used if the centre distance or the weight of the goods to be conveyed make this necessary.

How do I splice and connect T-profiles correctly?

BEHAbelt T-profiles can be purchased by the metre, assembled end-to-end, delivered or welded on site.

There are two ways of welding T-profile belts, either butt welding (for non-reinforced profiles) or overlap welding (for profiles with reinforcement).

Simplified, the welding process mainly takes place in four steps:

Prepare T-profile belt

Here the belt ends are cut by means of mitre cut or straight cut (e.g. with BEHAbelt AS02).

Clamp the belt in the guide unit

The guide clamp (e.g. BEHAbelt FZ02/2S) ensures perfect alignment of the belt ends to be joined.

Welding belts

For PU belts 290°C are required, for TPE belts 240°C. The BEHAbelt welding units (e.g. EErgo) ensure a constant welding temperature even at different ambient temperatures.

Clean belt

After the welding process and the cooling time, only the weld bead has to be removed by means of a side cutter (BEHAbelt SE02) or a sharp knife.

A special feature for welding belts is the friction welding machine RS02. Here the belt ends are heated and welded by means of friction. This is the fastest and safest method of joining belts endlessly.
