I completed both games and said FW should be in the 60s, that means I liked it, but it's objectively not 88/79 game unless it's the first game you played in 10 years
also I never seen anybody claiming it's truly the great game it claims to be, reactions varies between "sh*t" and "okay", but never those mysterious 10/10 turbofans
even TLoU has some of the hardcore fans on Ganker and that's not a popular opinion around these parts, (You) might be the actual first Horizon fan I see in the wild

Didn't knew Tim Cain was a Horizongay. Based of him if that's the case. Also I played many open world games. Including supposed genre defining Elden Ring and BotW(never finished BotW though, can't comment much on it) and RDR2. Horizon not only is a better game than all of them it's also a better open world.

Simple. Horizon's world is extremely small. Instead of wasting your time riding an auto riding horse you are incentivized to run. Not only you will encounter with enemies constantly(and unlike RDR2s goons or Elden Ring's zombies enemies are actually a threat in Horizon) but you will also discover ''hidden'' locations not marked on your map which rewards you with rare upgrade materials. It devolves into open world checklist gameplay like all the other games.

Combine the relatively compact open world with great combat and fun traversal options you have a great game in your hands. RDR2 is technically sound but gameplay is mind numbingly easy in shooting and a slog while in riding. Elden Ring's gameplay is okay, it's basically Dark Souls but open world is empty with sh*t you won't ever use 90% of the time. Horse is also extremely unfun to use. Can't comment much on BotW but everything having stamina or durability meters is like taking fun away from the player. You can slide from a mountain but your shield will break, you can fight against enemies but your sword will break etc. Horizon not only nails open world but also movement and gameplay. If your movement isn't fun then there is no need for it to be an open world. This is especially true in the case of FW though since FW actually fixed sliding and gave a glider to player, not to mention gives you a bird mount towards the end if you don't like walking. It's one of the open world games that wastes your time least(besides the opening which is too fricking long).

What is good about games like Elden Ring? Empty open world with sh*t you can't use 90% of the time? What is good about games like RDR2? Empty world that wants you to hold X while doing nothing in order to reach to the next scripted mission which is more about walking/talking than actual gameplay? What is good about Zelda? Constantly having to steal/find swords and armor with no commitment because you know your weapon will break after 3 hits?

Horizon haters can't literally point out to a single design flaw like that. If you think Horizon is a bad game beacuse it doesn't have chores/non gameplay elements like riding around in an empty field for hours then you just might not like video games.
